Day of Giving Thanks 2017

Join us for Salute's 6th Annual Day of Giving Thanks

Menbere “Menbe” Aklilu, Saluté’s owner and founder of what has become one of Richmond’s proudest traditions, expects to serve a record 1300 guests in two seatings at this year’s Thanksgiving feast on November 23. She’s coordinating with local shelters, churches and nonprofits that serve veterans, the homeless, women and children, and elderly communities in West Contra Costa County, and will provide a shuttle for guests back and forth from their sites.

What makes Menbe’s events truly extraordinary is not only her generous spirit but also her determination to treat the less fortunate with dignity and respect. Guests are seated at tables set with lovely dinnerware on white tablecloths, and served a traditional Thanksgiving dinner in her elegant restaurant, overlooking the beautiful Marina Bay.

This event is made possible by the Menbe's Way Fund, managed by the Richmond Community Foundation a 501 (c)(3) Charity, FED ID# 94-3337754. Your tax-deductible donation are greatly appreciated.

Besides a delicious meal we also provide:

Health Fair

Thanks to the generosity of our volunteer Nurses and Standard Party Rentals we are able to set up a Health Booth where our amazing volunteer nurses provide guests with Flu shoots free of charge.

Coat Rack

With the help of local students who hold Coat Drives at their schools we are able to send each one of our guests home with a lovely coat to keep them warm through the cold winter days.

Personal Care Goody Bags

Through generous community donations we are able to put together personal care goody bags made up of items such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, travel size shampoo and conditioners and other essentials.

We invite you to get involved!

Can't Volunteer but still want to help?

Help keep someone warm

Donate new or gently used coats, scarves, gloves, heavy socks, or hats to help keep someone warm this winter. You can drop of your coats at one off the many Coat Drive locations or at Salute E Vita. Please make sure that the coats are in good condition and most importantly Clean. We greatly appreciate if all coats are donated on hangers and if possible in plastic bag coverings.

Donate personal care items

Donate new personal care items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, and other essentials. We prefer travel size products as they are easier to carry out.

Donate Coffee or Orange Juice

We greatly appreciate Coffee and Orange Juice donations. We ask that you only donate ground coffee and orange juice that does not need to be refrigerated.
